Rev Laki Pomaikai Ka’ahumanu is the great, great grandson of Queen Ka’ahumanu, wife of King Kamehameha, who was the first to unite the islands of Hawaii under one kingdom. Having Rev Laki perform your traditional Hawaiian wedding or vow renewal ceremony not only provides you with the authentic Hawaiian rituals of chanting, blowing of the conch shell, and Hawaiian prayer… but also adds a truly royal touch: A minister who is a direct descendant of the last royal family to govern Maui and Hawaii. Rev Laki begins your ceremony with the traditional blowing of the Hawaiian Conch Shell (Pu)… then the Hawaiian Chant (Oli). Next, the traditional lei exchange, and a little history and meaning of these Hawaiian traditions. After rings and vows, Rev Laki closes his ceremony with a prayer of blessing in his native Hawaiian language.
Before becoming senior pastor of his present church, Rev Laki was pastor of Maui’s Harvest Chapel and of Lanai City Church on the island of Lanai. For more than 20 years, Reverend Laki provided a refuge and shelter at his church’s property, for battered women, homeless women with children, and underprivileged and disadvantaged people. This man of God certainly walks the walk and has used his resources for the benefit of his fellow people who have needed his help and guidance.
Reverend Laki’s Hawaiian heritage and spirit of Aloha is unsurpassed. Having him perform your ceremony not only blesses you with his wonderful Hawaiian spirit, history and legacy, but it also supports his wonderful work in our community, to help those who need it most. Rev Laki is now the senior pastor of Church On The Go.
