The World of Just Engaged
Getting engaged is incredibly exciting. As soon as that ring slides on your finger, you will start dreaming of a magical wedding, what your dress will look like, and the perfect honeymoon spot. While making these decisions, there are also a few things you should do to get your wedding planning off to the right start.
Make Some Tentative Plans
First things first, once you’re done celebrating with your new fiance, make some very tentative plans. Ideally, you’ll want to do this before you announce your engagement since your friends and family are likely going to start wanting details right away.
Try to decide what type of wedding you’d like to have, - uber formal, super casual or perhaps a destination wedding (Maui weddings are the best!) . a general date, like six months in the future or a year. You don’t have to know exact specifics yet, and you really can’t until you do some real booking and planning. However, being on the same page with your partner and having the bare bones of a plan mapped out can be really helpful.
Start Planning A Guest List
Once you’ve figured out some basics, start planning your guest list. You probably don’t want to announce your engagement to people you don’t plan to invite to the wedding. Likewise, it’s not really polite to invite guests to an engagement party and not the big day. So, create your list with this information in mind. Also, start to think about your wedding budget since that can play a role in how many guests you can or should invite.
Of course, these are just two very small first steps with a lot more ahead. However, you have to start somewhere, and these simple tips are a great starting spot!
