A Wedding Planner and a Little DIY

A Wedding Planner and a Little DIY

If you’re a crafty person, then the idea of a partial DIY (do it yourself) wedding might appeal to you. You can even add your own touches and elicit the help of a wedding planner. Maybe you want to make the wedding decorations or craft beautiful centerpieces for your tables. Whatever the case may be, it’s totally fine to DIY some your wedding. Just be sure to keep a few tips in mind.

Don’t Try to Do Too Much

Often, DIYers get a bit overenthusiastic when planning their weddings. They might imagine themselves making everything from the venue decorations to the wedding party gifts. However, be realistic and know your limits. You are going to have a lot going on as you plan your wedding, and that probably won’t leave as much time as usual for crafting. Thus, pick one or two things you can do yourself and leave the rest to the pros. Even if it costs you a bit more, the time and sanity you’ll save will be well worth it.

Work with What You’ve Got

One of the main reasons for embarking on DIY projects is to save money. Thus, don’t negate the point by getting too elaborate with your crafting items. In fact, whenever possible, work with what you have and with what is readily available to you. For Maui weddings, for example, you can create some beautiful things with traditional Hawaiian flowers, such as dried flower bracelets for the bridesmaids or beautiful, rustic centerpieces. Reign in your purchasing, and be thoughtful and frugal so that your DIY efforts actually have the desired effect cost-wise.

Ask for Help

Remember, you don’t have to do all of your crafting completely on your own. Even better yet, it’s often more fun with friends. If you have some crafty ideas, invite members of your wedding party over for a fun crafting night. It’s a great way to bond and to get some serious work done for your big day.

For many people, making some wedding accoutrements is great fun and a wonderful way to make their wedding more personal and memorable. Just don't’ get in over your head, and remember, between you and your wedding planner, a perfect day is waiting.
