To obtain a marriage license in Hawaii, follow these steps:
1. Complete the Online Application:
o Visit the online application portal and fill out the necessary details.
o Pay the required fee.
o Be sure to write down or print your Authorization Code/Locator Identification (ID).
2. Meet with an Agent:
o Schedule an appointment with an authorized agent no more than 30 days prior to your ceremony date.
o Both you and your partner must appear together in person before the agent.
o During the meeting, the agent will review your application, verify photo IDs, and any necessary documentation.
o The agent will then issue the marriage license.
o Proxies are not allowed, so both applicants must be present.
o Bring valid government-issued photo IDs (such as Passport, Driver License, State ID, etc.).
3. Have Your Official Ceremony:
o You must have your official wedding ceremony within 30 days of picking up your license.
o There is no waiting period before the ceremony can take place.
o Remember that the license is only valid within the State of Hawaii.
o If the ceremony is not performed within the 30-day period, the license becomes null and void.
4. Costs/Fees:
o The cost for a marriage license is $65.00 ($60 application fee + $5 portal fee).
o All fees are non-refundable.
5. Eligibility:
o There are no state residence or U.S. citizenship requirements.
o Blood tests are not required.
o The legal age to enter into a legal marriage is 18 years old.
o If you’re under 18, parental or guardian consent is required, along with documentation of the relationship.
o Cousins may marry, but the blood relationship cannot be closer than first cousins.
