How to Make Your Wedding More Meaningful

How to Make Your Wedding More Meaningful

Many brides and groom want a wedding that’s all about them. Some couples, however, prefer to shift the attention away from themselves and onto bigger issues. If you’re in that second group, congratulations. You should be proud of yourself for thinking of and trying to help others. Plus, there are some easy ways to incorporate your cause into your big day.

Share the Love

Donations are an effective way to make a difference. If you have an organization that’s close to your heart, you can ask your guests to donate to it in lieu of giving you gifts. They could give cash donations or, depending on the organization, donations of items or supplies. Check with the organization to see what they’re in need of and what their policy is for accepting items.

Book a Venue That Needs You

Some venues are very reliant on the money they receive from renting out their space. There are also organizations that may let you rent some room in exchange for a nice donation, even if they don’t typically do that. It never hurts to ask! Ultimately, you can have an impact by choosing to rent one of these spaces for your big day. Plus, as an added bonus, you’ll save money too.

Do Something Good

Why not incorporate a little service work into your wedding? Have your guests pack a box for a food bank or make a decoration for a shelter. This will give them something fun to do during your reception, and it will help others. You can still incorporate fun stuff, like photo booths, to keep the energy up and ensure everyone has a great time.

Think Beyond the Wedding

Even after your wedding is over, you can keep helping others. Consider doing some volunteer work on your honeymoon. Encourage your guests to get out and help causes that matter to them. Your wedding might just set off a chain reaction of service and giving.

People are allowed to be a little selfish on their wedding day. But, if you’d rather be selfless, that’s even better. Try these and other ideas to turn your wedding into a philanthropic event.
