Options Other than the Traditional Wedding Cake

The wedding cake has long been a staple of every Maui wedding package. However, the fact remains that not everyone really likes cake all that much. In fact, a lot of times, the cake goes to waste after a wedding. While some people will have a piece or two, others might not want all that sugar in their stomachs while they’re trying to dance the night away. Then, you have your health fiends who wouldn’t touch cake with a ten foot pole. Whatever the case may be, if a traditional wedding cake doesn’t seem right for you, consider these other great options.

Cheese

Cheese is a surprisingly popular alternative to wedding cake, perhaps because there are so many ways to serve it. Some people opt for a tower of cheeses for a nice, decorative touch. Others prefer a simple cheese tray or board, often serving one per table for the guests to share. Of course, you can also get fancy with a fondue fountain or with the most rare, expensive cheeses around. No matter how you slice it, cheese is a great choice!

Doughnuts

Some people greatly prefer doughnuts over cake. If this applies to you and your partner, why not have a doughnut “cake?” Doughnuts can be stacked and arranged to look like legitimate cakes, or you can just serve them on pretty, tiered trays for a similar effect. Even better yet, with doughnuts, it’s easier to save your leftovers for later!

Cake Pops

Recently, cake pops have gotten very popular. And, now, it’s not uncommon for bridal parties to hand out small, wrapped cake pops instead of wedding cake. These pops can be eaten right away as a delicious treat, or they can serve as a fun keepsake of the special day. They also lead to a lot less mess and cleanup than traditional cake.

These are just a few of many great wedding cake alternatives. So, what do you think? Want to try one of these for your own wedding? Or, perhaps you have your own idea. No matter what your final decision, it’s sure to be a great and unique one when you think outside the (cake) box.
