Prepare For These Wedding Day Emergencies
When you think of your wedding day, you probably imagine a perfect day where absolutely nothing goes wrong. Unfortunately, though, real life doesn’t work like that. And, even if you set your wedding somewhere as wonderful as Maui, there are sure to be some unexpected bumps along the way. However, if you prepare for the worst, then things are sure to turn out okay.
Stains and Spills
No one wants to spill a glass of wine on their wedding dress or get cake stains on their shirt. However, these things can and do happen. Thus, it’s best to have a plan in place. For less expensive items, like dress shirts or ties, have a backup available just in case. For more expensive attire, keep things like wet wipes and stain remover on hand and easily accessible. This simple step can keep accidents from turning into complete disasters.
Rain
If you’re having an outdoor wedding and/or reception, make sure you have a rain plan in place. Even if you’ve checked the weather countless times, unexpected sprinkles and storms do happen. As such, either have tents or other covers available or have an indoor venue you can retreat to if things get ugly. In fact, it’s often better to use tents even if you don’t think you’ll need them. That way, you’re covered no matter what. Plus, as an added bonus, you’ll enjoy sun protection.
Timing Miscalculations
Often, couples will rent venues for only a set amount of time. And, if their events run long, this could mean added charges or even getting kicked out of the venue before you can say “I Do.” To account for traffic, late starts, and other unforeseen events that could make a wedding run long, always book a venue for a few more hours, at minimum, than you think you’ll need. At worst, this will give everyone more time to clean up. At best, it could just save your big day.
The unexpected is the only thing you can expect in this life. So, to make your wedding day go more smoothly, accept that things probably won’t turn out 100% the way you want. Plan where you can, and then relax and let go when it comes to the truly uncontrollable.
