There are so many things involved in planning your wedding. Not only do you have to choose the time of year and the venue, but you also have to choose the wedding day itself. More often than not, couples opt to get married on a Saturday. After all, people are more likely to be off work and able to attend. However, there’s no “weekends only” rule for weddings. Furthermore, weekday weddings can have some surprising benefits.

Many wedding venues raise their rates significantly on weekends. That’s when they’re in the highest demand, so they can get away with it. So, you have to ask yourself, is a weekend day really worth the added cost? Ask around to see how much you could save by opting to say “I do” on a Tuesday or Wednesday. If it turns out to be a lot, then you may want to give some serious thought to a weekday wedding.
Space and Freedom
Life tends to get busier on the weekends. Crowds form at restaurants, bars, clubs, and more. Thus, if your wedding, rehearsal dinner, and bachelor or bachelorette parties are all happening during a weekend, you can expect to be ogled, noticed, and maybe even interrupted by curious strangers. Plan the major events on weekdays, though, and you’re likely to have more private, comfortable, and enjoyable experiences all around.
Easier Travel
Destination weddings are a lot of fun, especially if you’re getting married somewhere amazing, such as Maui. However, popular places like these can book up fast on the weekends. It can be hard for your guests to find a hotel or get space on a flight. With a weekday wedding, though, traveling can be much less of a hassle. Plus, who doesn’t love taking a few days off from work?
Weekday weddings may not work for everyone. You may have family members who just can’t leave work. Or, maybe you’re just set on having a whole weekend of partying and fun. If you can’t see yourself having a weekday wedding, that’s fine. But, if it’s even a remote possibility, give the idea some consideration. The benefits may just outweigh the downsides.
