Wedding Color Tips You Need to Know

Planning a wedding means making many decisions, some of which can be a lot of fun. For example, who doesn’t like choosing their wedding colors? However, even this choice, which can seem simple, can ultimately be a bit tricky. So, before you choose colors, keep these helpful tips in mind.

Tip #1: Choose Your Venue First

First of all, if you haven’t yet chosen your wedding venue, you’re probably not ready to choose colors. That’s because your colors should complement the space in which you’re getting married. Even outdoor weddings, like those on the beaches of Maui, should utilize colors that complement the natural surroundings, such as ocean-inspired blues and sandy yellows. And, for indoor weddings, the last thing you want are colors that clash with the drapes, the carpet, or anything else in the room. Thus, know your venue and know it well before setting your colors in stone.

Tip #2: Don’t Choose Anything Too Out There

Some couples love being different. And, while there’s nothing wrong with that, you probably don’t want to go too “out there” in terms of your wedding colors. If you do, you’ll probably have a hard time finding the items you need in your color or colors of choice. If you absolutely have to choose a highly distinctive hue, give yourself plenty of time to find and/or special order items in your chosen colors.

Tip #3: Try It Out

You might think you know exactly what you want in terms of wedding colors. But, don’t buy a ton of stuff until you’ve actually seen your colors together in person. Order a simple centerpiece, a small bouquet, or even just color swatches and really examine how your potential colors interact. If you love how they look together, go ahead and order anything your heart desires. If you don’t, start the process over until you find some complementary colors that you do love.

Having every decision fall on you is tough. But, it’s just part of wedding planning! Thankfully, though, choosing your wedding colors should be easier now that you’re armed with these foolproof tips.
