What You Need To Know About Wedding Menus
Are you planning to serve a full meal at your wedding? If so, your guests are sure to be pleased. Plus, you’ll enjoy this special time of eating together and being with the ones you love. However, before you can do that, you have to choose your menu and plan out the prep. Fortunately, these tips can help with the entire process.
Plan Well In Advance
Wedding meals take a lot of time to put together. As such, don’t think you can wait until the last minute to find a caterer or choose what to serve. Ideally, you should have your menu completely figured out at least a month before the big day. This means you’ll need to start planning and taking requests, if applicable, from your guests well in advance. Once the menu is set, work hard to avoid any last-minute changes, which can cause confusion and extra charges.
Be Considerate
Keep in mind that food preferences and dietary restrictions vary widely. And, while you can’t please everyone, do try to be considerate of as many people as possible. If you know you have vegetarians or vegans coming to the wedding, for example, try to provide at least one or two things they can safely eat. Also, try and avoid foods that a lot of people have allergies to, such as shellfish. If you have to have these types of food, make sure their allergen content is clearly noted to improve safety. The more thoughtful you are of all your guests, the more likely they are to appreciate your spread.
Try Something New
Your wedding is just that: your wedding. Thus, it makes sense that you’d want to serve up some of your favorites, and you should. However, also be a little bold and add some new and different items into the menu to make the meal memorable. If you’re getting married in Maui, for example, you could add in some local fare to celebrate the location and culture. Or, you might bring in dishes that represent the bride and/or groom’s heritage. Aim for food that people will remember long after they’ve eaten. You’ll find it will make your day even more special.
Your guests are sure to appreciate a nice meal. They’ll appreciate it even more, though, if you can keep these helpful tips in mind. Bon appétit!
