Have a Memorable Wedding Recessional
When getting married in beautiful Maui, most people give a lot of thought to that moment when the bride walks down the aisle. However, they often overlook a just-as-important moment: the recessional. This is the formal term for the bride and groom’s walk back down the aisle, as a married couple. This moment in the wedding day is a big one and should be handled with care. Fortunately, by following a few tips, you can make it every bit as memorable and special as the bridal reveal.
Incorporate Special Music
Everyone knows what tune will be playing when the bride walks down the aisle. However, the recessional is less structured and allows for more choice, including in terms of music. Thus, make your recessional special by choosing to play a meaningful song during the big moment. This could be your couple song, a song chosen by a special member of the bridal party, or even a song sung by one or both members of the couple. Music is really key here, so choose it carefully.
Let the Petals Rain Down
It’s customary for the bride and groom to be showered with bird seed, bubbles, or rice when they exit the wedding venue. However, who says that kind of thing can only happen outdoors? Many people choose to hand out petal cones or other throwable items to their guests just before the recessional. That way, the two main members of the bridal party can be (literally) showered with fun and well wishes.
Take Your Time
Don’t run down that aisle the way that some couples do. While a “mad dash” is common, many couples find that they enjoy their recessional more if they take it slow. Spend time posing for pictures, embracing, and saying special hellos and thank yous with those you love most. It will make the recessional all the more memorable and meaningful for you and your guests.
Just like all parts of your wedding, your recessional can look however you want. However, consider following these tips for a truly special experience all around.
