Your Maui Wedding + Covid-19

Your Maui Wedding + Covid-19

When you planned your Maui destination wedding, you probably didn’t plan for a pandemic to sweep the nation. Nobody did. Unfortunately, though, COVID-19 has come on the scene, and no one knows when things will go back to “normal.” Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to change your entire life or all of your wedding plans, especially now that some restrictions are being lifted. It does mean, though, that you may have to keep a few things in mind.

Stay Informed

As the nation undergoes a pandemic like never seen before, rules and regulations change on what can feel like a daily basis. For example, the mayor of Maui County recently announced that no more than 10 people could attend both indoor and outdoor gatherings. He also said that tents, pavilions, and other structures that attract the public are not allowed at beaches and parks. As you can imagine, that is the kind of thing that could put somewhat of a damper on your wedding plans. However, it is also the kind of thing you need to know about as you plan your big (or maybe not so big) day.

However, since regulations could be lifted or changed at any time, it’s important that you stay abreast of the latest news and developments. And, when you learn of any changes that could affect your wedding day, let your guests, and wedding party know as well. While everything is a bit touch and go at this point, keeping everyone informed and updated as well and as often as is possible should help to make your wedding day go on, in spite of everything happening in the world.

Keep Everyone Safe

If your wedding is still happening as planned, even with the regulations in place, then take steps to keep everyone as safe as possible. Inquire with your venue about any protocols they might already have in place. And, when and where you can, go the extra mile. For example, you might want to think about offering hand sanitizer or even sanitizing stations at your venue as allowed. Encourage guests to wear masks and maintain social distancing.

Some of your efforts may not be exactly what you had planned for your wedding. But, at the end of the day, keeping everyone protected is the most important thing.

Think Positive

Finally, remember to stay positive no matter what. If you need to invite fewer people to your wedding than you planned, then try and be grateful for a more meaningful, intimate setting. And, as you face various hurdles, remember that getting married in a pandemic will make your wedding even more memorable and meaningful. After all, if you and your partner can get through COVID-19, you can get through anything!

No one wanted or planned to get married during a pandemic. But, if it is happening to you, just follow these tips, make the best of it, and make the right decisions for yourself and everyone you love. If you can do that, then your wedding can still happen and still be just as wonderful (if not a bit different) as you always imagined it.
